Information we collect
- Account identity — your sign-in identity (including email address) is managed by our authentication provider, Clerk, and linked to your Readless data by an account ID.
- Submitted pages — the URL, title, and extracted text of pages you save or ask Readless to analyze.
- Generated results — summaries, recommendation verdicts (worth reading, summary enough, skip), and the reasoning behind them.
- Reading history — which items you have completed, are tracking, or have skipped, used to compare future pages against.
How we use it
Submitted page content is used to generate a summary and a recommendation, and to build a lightweight record of what you have already read so future pages can be compared against it. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.
Third-party services
- Clerk — handles sign-in and account authentication.
- Google (Gemini API) — submitted page content is sent to Google's Gemini models to generate summaries, recommendations, and the embeddings used to compare pages against your reading history.
- Cloudflare — hosts Readless and stores account data, reading items, and embeddings (Cloudflare D1 and Vectorize).
Data storage and deletion
Reading items are stored until you delete them or your account is removed. Deleting a reading item removes its stored content, summary, and associated embeddings. Full-account deletion is not yet a self-serve action — email us and we will delete your account data.
Your rights
You can delete individual reading items at any time from within Readless, or email us to request a copy or deletion of your account data.
Cookies and sessions
Readless uses session cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
International users
Readless is available globally. If you access Readless from outside the country where our servers and processors are located, your information will be transferred to and processed in other jurisdictions, which may have different data protection laws than your own. By using Readless, you consent to this transfer and processing.
Children's privacy
Readless is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Readless develops. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and the "last updated" date below will change accordingly.
